Wealth guard

Eddie started demanding a $1 toll of anyone to enter the kitchen. Vincent went around and entered the kitchen without paying. Eddie decided to escalate to a responsible party, and accosted his mother: "Is this your son? Please give me something."

(The name Edward comes from ead, "wealth" + ward, "guardian" or "protector.")

  1. Well, good choice of names, parents!
I like the polite assignment of responsibility, too. What a civilized guardian you have raised!

  2. Nomen est omen, alright! And that would seem to apply to Vincent as well, the "winner" in the anecdote; and also to Anne: from Hebrew Hannah, meaning "grace, gracious," and therefore willing to pony up. And if the father exerted his authority to put an end to this "polite" highway robbery, he too would have been true to his name: victory (nike) of the people (laos). What a universal family saga!
